HELLO, MY NAME IS EMANUEL.
I am an editorial designer with a passion for print, an interest in digital platforms and an inexplicable attraction to architecture and the built environment.
Part of a new business pitch, this artwork was designed for both screen and print use. The individual pages make up the images that would be used in the presentation, while the spreads would be printed as a leave-behind for the client.
Spectator Life is the quarterly lifestyle magazine from The Spectator. Joining the design team for the first issue, I worked on layout proposals and design with the magazine's editor and image editor.

men’s file magazine is about reviving the vintage motorcycle style in an attempt to “trace the roots of style”. As an assistant art director for the fourth issue, I adopted the magazine's modernist approach to its design and layout and created spreads for some of the stories and retouched photos from fashion photo shoots.

Adams Kara Taylor are a progressive design-led firm of consulting structural and civil engineers, working with renowned British and international architects. Navigating News: Re-designing The Washington Post
I chose to work with The Washington Post because the opportunity to come up with a much more appropriate design was pretty obvious. The new design is based on information hierarchy; it gives gravity to the stories by making them more prominent, visible and easily accessible. More specifically:
1) It reveals the hidden sections of the navigation menu
2) The focus is shifted on the main story
3) It draws attention to the secondary stories
4) It creates entry points for the rest of the articles/news
A television guide
A series of guides designed for viewers, who are passionate about what they want to watch. The first one is about the film programme containing the movies of the week with an in depth analysis, a ‘watch it or not’ section as well as suggestions that match the movie’s content.
“We do not look like this just for the sake of it, but because we are different. And because you are different. And you do not want to get what everybody else is getting: a bit of telly and a bit of the rest.”
Good design is
Art and design website Inksie asked 10 writers and 10 illustrators to create a piece of work based on Dieter Rams' Principles of Good Design. Being a very big fan of his work and a firm believer of his principles, I used the essays and the illustrations to design an A5 'manual' of good design.
Client: Procter & Gamble
The analytics team of the company was asked to prepare a report for a potential client, based on brand awareness of their products. Using simple graphs to present the data behind the research, I designed two reports that were used to support the pitch.
