And definitely not all of them have the marketing you'd expect. The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment collaborated with Brighton-based creative agency Harrison for the production of their 2013/2014 season brochure. The result is a fresh and bold take on what usually is a conventional piece of marketing literature. The eye-catching cover sets the tone nicely for "the graphical tour of the optical" that take place on the pages that follow. OAE players are spiralling down into black and white patterns, their instruments are cut up and blended into unusual geometric forms and shapes. For classical music people, they certainly look quite playful.
They've made a video about the production process, and in that video lies the secret for that amazingly rich black. Take a look at the rest of their work, especially the brochure for the London Sinfonietta, which will probably be on this blog pretty soon!
